Betron is a British-based audio business that has a lot of similar budget-style wired headphones to check out.
The BS10s are a popular headphone model on Amazon just now in the UK, with lots of positive reviews to read. Especially considering the competition for cheap earbuds these days, why are these headphones so popular?
We had the chance to test and review the Betron BS10s (VC model), so what did we think of them and are the number of positive reviews online merited?
Review and Thoughts
Build Quality
The first thing we noticed is that the headphones themselves aesthetically looked stylish and of better quality than similarly priced models.
When holding the headphones for the first time, we noticed the same thing, they feel like a higher-priced pair and don’t have that cheapish feel you would normally associate with budget headphones.
We like the metal design of the buds themselves, and they feel a little more robust than your average plastic pair. Although this is just our first impression, the metal housing of the buds looks great and, in theory, should ensure the headphones last a little bit longer than cheap plastic alternatives.
There’s a few other metal bits attached to the cable that adds to the overall nice build; one bit allows the cable to split off into the two headphone sides, and the other supports the jack.
Design
Our first impression of the design is that the buds look slightly awkward for fitting into the ear with the overall shape and angle of them.
The BS10 drivers are quite big at 12mm, which is meant to promote a better-sounding bass. The drivers themselves have an oval shape to them which is relatively uncommon.
We found that the oval buds fit ok but aren’t as secure or snug in the ear as we would like them to be. Depending on the size and shape of your ear canal, you might find it difficult to keep them in without falling out, especially when moving about with them. We felt that the design probably lends itself better to wearing them where you won’t be moving around much, such as sitting at the computer.
There are 3 extra pairs of different-sized rubber earbuds provided that are useful for finding a good fit in the ear.
We feel the cable design is a bit of a hit-and-miss in all honesty. It has a protective coating around it to protect it from tangling, and it does seem to do an ok job at it, but like all wired designs, it still tangles.
The issue we have with the coating is that it feels like the cable gets caught on stuff more easily with it. The coating might help protect the cable long-term from the usual damage, providing it doesn’t constantly get snagged on stuff such as clothing and pull the wires apart inside.
Comfort
Although we felt the fit could be a bit tighter, we liked how the BS10s felt overall in the ear.
They were more than comfortable sitting in the ear for a few hours listening to music and YouTube on the computer.
If the comfort feels a bit awkward, you should try switching around the rubber buds provided to see if one fits your ear canal a bit better.
We were impressed with the comfortability aspect of these headphones, especially with the larger shape of the drivers they sport. Compared with other earbuds around this price range, they do stand out in the comfortability category.
Sound Quality
We had an idea of what sort of sound to expect from these headphones being the price they are, but we were pleasantly surprised with how they sounded.
The bigger drivers are meant to promote a better-sounding bass – and the bass is fairly strong on them when listening to a bassy music track.
We did notice that vocals and some instruments were a bit lower in volume when listening to music, but they didn’t have that tinny sound we like to associate with inexpensive headphones.
They’re ok for some casual music listening and videos, but would probably recommend going for a more expensive pair if you’re more serious about listening to music.
The sound quality isn’t going to compete with premium headphones, but they more than hold their own against competing earbuds with a respectable sound output.
Features
If you went for the BS10VC model rather than the standard BS10, then you’ll get the volume/track controller, which is a nice little addition to the cable in our opinion. The controller works with most devices you’ll find out there today.
Although it’s a handy thing to have as part of the design for changing music and controlling the volume or microphone on the go, the one gripe we have is that the buttons are quite small and close together. We found it was easy to miss some of the buttons, especially if you have larger hands. We would have liked to have seen the buttons spread out a little more and be easier to push. We will say again that we like the remote overall and found it functioned well.
The BS10VC microphone provided is passable but certainly wouldn’t be recommended in most cases, especially for anything professional such as work calls. It’s a bit muffled, but that’s to be expected from a microphone as part of headphones in this price range. It’s still a nice addition in case you need it for something like gaming or speech-to-text input.
Noise isolation is featured in the BS10s, and it works reasonably well at blocking out a lot of surrounding noise, such as the TV and people talking in the background, but could be improved with better-fitting earphones. The different-sized buds provided can be tried to see if there’s one that provides a better noise isolation experience for your ear size.

Should You Buy Them?
The Betron BS10s are an ideal pair of budget in-ear headphones best suited for house use. If you’re looking for a spare pair or a cheap set that you’re not worried about breaking but still have a decent sound, then these are ideal.
They’re perfect for casually listening to music, ASMR, podcasts, and videos on a home computer or laptop. You could even use them as a spare pair of gaming headphones even though they’re not designed for it, as the sound is decent enough, and the VC model comes with an in-built microphone.
For travelling around or on the go with a mobile phone, we would probably recommend going for a different set of earbuds with a better fit. If you’re a proper music enthusiast, then a step up in sound quality would probably be required.
We can see why these earphones are so popular on Amazon, as they’re definitely worth what we paid for them. They have a lot going for them, such as decent sound quality, durability, and a stylish build and are surprisingly comfortable for a budget pair of headphones.
