Sound is experienced by everyone in different ways every day, and we want to be a part of that. Most people like to listen to music using either headphones, earbuds, phone speakers, a home stereo system, or even car speakers.
Next time you’re out in public, just look around you and appreciate how many people are wearing earbuds.
Although there’s an argument around humans being more disconnected from society with earbuds in all the time, there’s no doubt that earbuds seem to have revolutionised the way we experience audio.
Who Are We and Why Trust Us?
Currently, a small team of audio enthusiasts from the UK regularly publishing content related to audio technology.
We’ve been around since 2021, producing real, hands-on reviews of headphones, headsets, earphones and earbuds. As can be seen with our reviews, we physically own and touch the products we review. No AI-generated reviews or stock images are used.
Another reason to trust our reviews is that we’re not controlled or instructed by manufacturers on what to say about their models. Any thoughts or experiences shared with our readers are entirely our own.
The brand began as a written blog on this website, but today we’ve expanded our audio-related content to other platforms, including Facebook, X, and YouTube.
Our content isn’t static and is ever-changing to keep up with technology and updates, so you know we haven’t abandoned ship and always strive to stay up-to-date.
Unlike some other fly-by-night blogs, we respond to any questions, inquiries or comments we get, so you can be sure there are real people behind the content and brand.
Our Mission and Aim
The aim of Sound Is Working is to enhance everyone’s sound experience without wasting money or compromising health.
We understand that there are lots of sound and audio websites out there, listing every technical aspect of headphones and their sound output.
We aim to make things as simple as possible for our readers, giving clear opinions and recommendations on models we review to assist with purchasing decisions. We try our best to minimise jargon and avoid posting walls of confusing audio-related stats and information.
At Sound Is Working, we’re obsessed with getting our hands on as many headphones, earbuds, earphones, and gaming headsets as possible and sharing our own opinions on them based on our testing experience.
We aim to provide honest opinions in our reviews, free from bias or influence from manufacturers’ expectations.
Even if people aren’t interested in our reviews, we’d still continue reviewing and trying out audio equipment for our own amusement as we’re that obsessed. That being said, we appreciate feedback and are always open to suggestions and requests further to enhance the experience of our brand for readers.
Having been gamers ourselves in the past, we understand the frustration of looking for genuine gaming headset reviews that include hands-on microphone quality tests, only to be met with reviews from people who haven’t actually used the product.
Not everyone has the time or money to test numerous gaming headsets, so why not let us do the work for you? We aim to cater to several different price brackets fairly.
We want our users to read real reviews before making a purchase, rather than relying on AI-generated content that is prevalent in today’s age. Hopefully, all our information, whether review or blog-related, is clear and understandable to everyone, making things simple.
What’s Our Demographic?
Gaming is currently our largest demographic, but our audio content is expanding daily across a range of platforms.
Most online competitive gamers are always seeking an edge, especially those in FPS games. Sound is an essential element in FPS gaming, as you want to hear footsteps as clearly as possible.
Don’t worry, though, whether you’re a casual music listener, avid gamer or music producer, we’ve got you covered.
We have plenty of content around earbuds for music use, which is all the rage these days. Although we’ve tested most of our headsets, headphones, earbuds, and similar devices for gaming, we also try to include some music tests to broaden the experience and provide an overall better sound review.
Generic sound reviews are also included in testing, ie, listening to some general YouTube videos and streams.
Ear health content is also important to us and something we aim to produce more of in the future. Although we’re not audiologists or ear care specialists, we have some knowledge on the subject.
We also understand that not everyone experiences sound in the same way, and we strive to produce content that is accessible to individuals who are hard of hearing or have audio challenges.
In a nutshell, although gamers are our main demographic, we’ve tried to cover all bases.
Disclaimer: Although we have an interest in the ear care field, we are not healthcare specialists in ear care. Anything we do publish in the health area should not be taken as professional health advice. Please consult an ear health care professional if you have any health-related questions or issues. The Content and Testing Process
We first research topics and identify the audio issues and troubles people are facing for our blog content. The next step is to outline the blog post, addressing the problem with all the relevant headings necessary to cover the topic comprehensively.
We then use a writing process to fill in the gaps, tackling each section individually and completing the post.
Each post is then thoroughly reviewed by both manual and computer-powered editors to ensure it meets the standards we have set. This process corrects any minor grammatical or factual errors that inevitably occur in the content creation process.
Once these thorough checks have been done, the post is then approved and published on the Sound Is Working website. Once the post is live on the website and we’re satisfied with it, it is then published on other platforms and social media.
The primary guideline for us is simple: ensure we answer the question or topic clearly without padding it out with unnecessary information.
Sometimes, blog posts are developed into videos, which are then published on our YouTube channel. If a blog post is of significant value and readers could benefit from a YouTube video that clarifies the content, then we will happily produce a video to accompany the post.
Accessibility is also a significant concern for us, as we’ve mentioned before, given that everyone experiences sound differently. We aim to cover as many bases as possible when it comes to consuming our content in various formats.
Reviews are similar to our blog posts; we still look at what people might be interested in or if there’s a gap for a review that’s not covered.
Sometimes, we’ll just look out for a new release or post a random review of a product that we decide on, even if there isn’t a massive appetite for it.
Our reviews adhere to a consistent template, encompassing the same trusted testing process.
We take our own pictures of the model first, then get into testing the product.
The things we look at when testing are:
- Design and Build
- Sound Quality
- Features
- How do they compare with similar models
- Pros and cons
- Our verdict and opinion overall
The reviews are edited and proofread in the same manner as our blog posts before being published on the website. We are publishing more and more video versions of all our reviews, as most people prefer to consume content this way for reviews these days.
As mentioned, all our reviews are authentic and feature our own opinions. We do not use AI-generated content for reviews.
Reviews may evolve or change over time as usage of a product increases. Any edits we make will be clearly reflected in the updated date at the top of the post. We also strive to clearly explain any edits we make, such as manufacturer updates or issues we have encountered while using the product over time.
